Flying Finish For New Heliport
APOD-West will replace the Timor Leste Air Group's temporary base at the eastern end of the airport, which encroaches on the side boundaries of Dili airport’s runway, preventing the airport from receiving full international accreditation by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The new base will remove this problem, and will also accommodate the Australian-led International Stabilisation Force’s contracted logistic helicopters, removing much of the helicopter noise from the old heliport adjacent to the new East Timorese Presidential Palace in central Dili.
