Service and Sacrifice Remembered in East Timor
Australian and New Zealand members of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) spent time on Saturday 24 July remembering the service and sacrifice of others in a series of memorials that highlighted the close relationship between the ANZAC forces and others.
In the hills of Tilomar in the south-west corner of East Timor, a small service commemorating the 10th anniversary of the death of New Zealand soldier Private Leonard Manning also recognised the service of other military personnel, including Australian, Nepalese, Fijian, and Irish soldiers.
Attended by representatives from New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Nepal, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Fiji, and East Timor, Deputy Commander of the ISF Commander Tony Millar said the ceremony was an opportunity to reflect on relationships and progress.
