US Marine Joint Terminal Attack Controllers Practiced Their Trade

US Marine Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) practiced their trade on a hill in East Timor during MARINE EXERCISE 10 (MAREX10) this week (24 June 10).

The JTAC practice followed a day of jungle training conducted by the International Stabilisation Force (ISF), US Marines and East Timor Defence Force (F-FDTL).

MAREX 10, also known as EX CROCODILE, comprises a series of joint exercises and projects with the US Marine Corps, F-FDTL and ISF.

The Marines are posted to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15MEU).

The exercise was opened on 22 June 10 with a soccer game between the F-FDTL and a US Navy/US Marine team. The game at Dili stadium was watched by East Timorese, ISF, US and UN personnel.

The US Marine - ISF - F-FDTL interaction has also included competing in a section military skills challenge, and introducing East Timorese soldiers to non lethal crowd control techniques.
