Baucau Patrol
ADF troops continue to garner positive response from locals in Baucau, a city previously notorious for crime and unrest. Platoons from 8/9 RAR’s Alpha Company are rotating in and out of the city to conduct routine patrols, engage with the community, develop infrastructure, and offer medical and spiritual care. The Aussie troops patrol daily to high population villages, markets and sporting facilities to interact with the locals and sustain stability in the area.
The ADF contributes over four hundred troops to the International Stabilisation Force on Operation ASTUTE. The members of Joint Task Force 631 operate at the invitation of the Government of East Timor to maintain stability and provide a secure environment for the ongoing development of the country.
