Sarbi the Australian Special Forces Explosive Detection Dog is returning to Australia after six months in Dubai undergoing health checks.

Sarbi was on her second tour of duty in Afghanistan when she went missing during an engagement between insurgents and Coalition troops in Afghanistan in September 2008 for which Trooper Mark Donaldson was awarded his Victoria Cross.

Fourteen months later, in November last year, she was returned to Australian forces and has been undergoing vaccinations, testing, treatments, health checks in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates , since June 2010.

She was kept in Dubai to prepare her in accordance with Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service import conditions.

Sarbi will go to AQIS' Eastern Creek quarantine facility for 30 days before returning to her special forces unit, the Incident Response Regiment, where she will continue her training and assessment for further employment as an Explosives Detection Dog.
