ANA Language School at Tarin Kot

Captain Henderson is currently posted to Darwin's 2nd Calvary Regiment and is deployed with Combined Team Uruzgan.

Mid Caption: At a dusty forward operating base in Uruzgan province, Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers participate in English language classes.

The soldiers of the ANA are enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn literacy and numeracy skills as part of the program devised by the National Training Mission Afghanistan in conjunction with the Australian Combined Team Uruzgan (CTU) at 4 Bde, 205 Hero Corps Garrison at Multi National Base Tarin Kot (MNB-TK).

Twice a day each weekday, five instructors hold classes comprising approximately 30 ANA soldiers. Only five per cent of Afghans are literate and the Dari and Pashto classes assist the ANA soldiers with career progression and trade development.
