Chief of Joint Operations Visits Tarin Kot

Lieutenant General (LTGEN) Mark Evans, AO, DSC, Chief of Joint Operations visited Australian troops and held high-level meetings with key leaders on recent tour of the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO).

LTGEN Evans held meetings with Commander Regional Command-South (RC-S), Major General (US) Terry and Commander of the Afghanistan National Army’s 205th Hero Corps, General Hamid in Kandahar before having a BBQ dinner with troops at the Australian compound, Camp Baker.

LTGEN Evans met with a number of key International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) leaders at the ISAF headquarters in Kabul. These included office calls with Deputy Commander (DCOMD) ISAF LTGEN Bucknall and COMIJC LTGEN Rodriguez. LTGEN Evans also spent time with the Commander of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) mission to Afghanistan, Mr Jason Williams.

On the last leg of his tour, LTGEN Evans visited Multi-National Base Tarin-Kot (MNB-TK) and spoke to soldiers of the Australian Force Elements. LTGEN Evans was briefed by the Mentoring Task Force-2 Commander, LTCOL Darren Huxley and spoke with the Commander Special Operations Task Group. LTGEN Evans met with Afghan Provincial Chief of Police, Brigadier General Jumar Gul and Commander 4 BDE, Brigadier General Mohammed Zafar Khan.
