Chief of Air Force Visits Troops in Afghanistan

Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Mark Binskin, AO visited Australian Defence Force troops on a recent tour of the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). Air Marshal Binskin was accompanied by Director General Air Command Operations, Air Commodore Bill Henman and Warrant Officer of the Air Force, John Millar as he visited bases in the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan.

Arriving in Afghanistan, Air Marshal Binskin laid a wreath at the Remembrance Day service in Camp Holland, the Australian compound within the Multi National Base Camp - Tarin Kot (MNB-TK). The Air Marshal shared lunch with airmen and women at “Poppies”, the recreational area for the troops in Tarin Kot.

He also spent time with Special Operations Task Group soldiers before flying to Kandahar to visit the Australian contingent based at Camp Baker. In Kandahar, Air Marshal Binskin visited the Heron Detachment which is now under Australian command since taking over from the Canadian Forces last month.
