Aussie handover completed in Tarin Kot

The rip has now been completed as incoming soldiers from Darwin’s 2nd Mentoring Task Force (MTF-2) rotate with their counterparts from Brisbane’s 1st Mentoring Task Force (MTF-1).

After months of planning the soldiers now in Tarin Kot receiving their final briefs, before being flown to new home – a patrol base in Uruzgan province in southern Afghanistan.

As each section of soldiers arrive at their patrol bases, they are greeted by their MTF-1 counterparts, who will soon commence their journey home to Australia.

During this time, LTCOL Mark Jennings, Commanding Officer of MTF-1, has also been busy saying his final farewells to his Afghan National Army counterparts. One of his final tasks is to present each soldier with their medals. “It is important for me to individually thank each soldier. They have worked hard and have earned their medals,” said LTCOL Jennings.

The RIP occurred throughout October, with the final soldiers returning to Brisbane in early November.
