The Naval Role 3 Medical Facility supports the coalition troops deployed on ISAF operations

The Naval Role 3 Medical Facility at the Kandahar Air Field supports the coalition troops currently deployed on ISAF operations in the Zabul, Uruzgan and Kandahar regions.

It’s the 1st NATO hospital in the whole of Afghanistan it has a high medical capability it’s the most advanced hospital in Regional Command South it supports all of the operations in this region.

One of the busiest medical facilities in Afghanistan, it has 270 clinical professionals from the five member nationals working there with an average of 80 surgical cases a week, about 400 medical cases a week 1000 in-patients scripts in the pharmacy over 5000 lab tests, over 1000 x-rays and digital scans.

At the moment, there are five Australians currently offering their services to the Role 3 Medical Facility.

Australia’s contribution to the Role 3 Medical Facility was recently recognised with the Australian flag being raised on the quarterdeck in the foyer of the medical facility as being a positive contributor in the efforts to save the lives of coalition troops wounded or injured in the line of duty.
