Opposition Leader Visits Troops in Afghanistan

Opposition Leader, the Hon. Tony Abbott, visited Australian troops in Afghanistan yesterday. Mr Abbott shared lunch with the troops, toured the Trade Training School and received briefs from senior military personnel and regional Afghan leaders on the situation in country.

He had the opportunity to view a firepower demonstration by Australian and ISAF troops during the afternoon.

Mr Abbott was accompanied by the Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Technology and Personnel, the Hon. Stuart Robert, the Vice Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General David Hurley, and the Commander of Joint Task Force 633, Major General John Cantwell.
