The Afghan National Army (ANA) together with their Australian Army mentors and instructors achieved a historic milestone on 26 September 2010 following the successful indirect live firing of D-30 Howitzer artillery guns at the heavy weapons range at the School of Artillery in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The event marked the inaugural firing of artillery by the first inductee of the Afghan School of Artillery Train the Trainer program, giving the ANA the capability to train Afghan artillery soldiers themselves.
