Concrete is poured for the new reinforced accommodation buildings being built at the Multi National Base at Tarin Kot, Afghanistan

New accommodation facilities are rapidly taking shape at the Multi-National Base, Tarin Kot for soldiers of the 1st Mentoring Task Force (MTF-1) in Uruzgan Province. When finished, it will mean all Australian soldiers will be accommodated in hardened buildings able to shield them from insurgent indirect rocket attacks. The concrete buildings, coupled with two further chalets of Drehtainers – a modular building system from Germany, will provide over 1350 additional hardened bed spaces for Australian personnel based at Tarin Kot. The modules are being delivered using a combination of road and air freight with site construction undertaken by a team of Royal Australian Air Force and Army tradesmen under the supervision of the manufacturer’s representatives.
