Conducted by Padre Peter Friend, Padre Isaac Kahn and the Commander of Joint Task Force 633, Major General John Cantwell AO officially dedicated a place of remembrance at the Australian Support Base in the United Arab Emirates. Service men and women deployed to Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates for Operation SLIPPER, gathered at a ceremony to officially unveil the Cenotaph at the Australian Support Base. The new Cenotaph is prominently located in the Australian compound adjacent to a “lone pine” in the memorial garden. 21 members of the Australian Defence have lost their lives since Operation SLIPPER commenced in 2001.
