Just like the ship herself the crew of HMAS Parramatta operate like a well oiled machine as they work through a toxic hazard drill as part of their daily routine during their tour of duty in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). Throughout their deployment in the MEAO the crew go through a continuous training and response regime to ensure that every member is well versed in incident response should an emergency occur. HMAS Parramatta is deployed for six months to the Middle East Area of Operations as part of Operation Slipper, The Australian Defence Force (ADF) contribution to the International campaign against terrorism, countering piracy in the Gulf of Aden, and maritime security. During her deployment, Parramatta is helping provide security in the maritime environment, promoting regional stability and global prosperity. These operations complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists’ use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
