A deep sense of patriotism has spurred an Australian Government civilian working alongside Australian and ISAF soldiers at the Multi-National Base in Tarin Kot to capture the sentiment of Australian soldiers towards their fallen comrades by writing and producing tributes to the Australian soldiers that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Iain Smith, better known as Fred, penned a tribute to Private Ben Renaudo in 2009 and recently performed a new song in remembrance of Sapper Jacob “Snowy” Moerland and Sapper Darren “Smithy” Smith in front of over 150 soldiers at the Multi-National Base in Tarin Kot on the 12th of June.
The two hour concert was an initiative that Fred put forward to the 1st Mentoring Task Force Regimental Trust Fund committee to gather donations for a fund being developed by the 1st Mentoring Task Force for the families of the fallen.
