Operational Mentoring Liaison Team - Hand Over

An official ceremony helped mark May 25 as an important milestone for the 4th Afghan National Army Brigade and the 1st Mentoring Task Force as key mentoring responsibilities transferred from the Dutch to the Australians.

About 80 Australian, Dutch, and Afghan soldiers were on parade for the ceremony addressed by the Commander 4th Brigade, General Hamid, Commanding Officer of the 1st Mentoring Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Jason Blain, and departing Commander of the Dutch Operational Mentoring Liaison Team (OMLT), Lieutenant Colonel Leuvering.

By 1 June, MTF-1 will be mentoring or supporting the following ANA 4th Brigade elements:

4th Brigade Headquarters;

1st Infantry Kandak (currently French mentored with Australian support and is due to transition to full ADF mentoring in late 2010);

2nd Infantry Kandak;

3rd Infantry Kandak;

4th Combat Support Kandak; and

5th Combat Services Support Kandak.
