Mothers Day in the MEAO

Even in the Middle East, the mum’s of the Australian Defence Force were spoilt on their special day.
The dining facilities’ staff at the Al Minhad Air Base, served up a delicious four course lunch for 13 mums who were treated to 1st class silver service with the menu including ‘Deep Fried Camembert’, ‘Fillet of Beef Wellington with sauce Dianne’ and an Australian favourite, ‘Rolled Pavlova with raspberry sauce’.

The Regimental Sergeant Major of the Headquarters Joint Task Force 633, Warrant Officer Class One Rod Cornick who organised the lunch said that all mums are special, particularly mums who are serving in the Middle East and doing their country proud.

Squadron Leader Cindy Chawner, who is currently on her very first deployment said it was fantastic that the headquarters organised a special lunch for the mums.

Corporal Donna Bean from the 3rd Force Support Unit, who is almost six weeks into her eight month deployment, was also pleasantly surprised to be so spoilt on Mothers Day.
