Artillery mentors from the First Mentoring Task Force - Train an Artillery Battery of Afghan Gunners

As Infantry and Engineer soldiers of the Afghan National Army patrol across the Uruzgan Province of Afghanistan, Artillery mentors from the First Mentoring Task Force are training an Artillery Battery of Afghan gunners equipped with the D-30 122mm Howziter at Multinational Base - Tarin Kot.

The detachment is focused on developing the Afghan National Army capability so they can start employing it throughout the Province.

Training consists of getting the Afghan National Army gunners exposure to realistic situations and to do this they deploy the guns out to the heavy range and conduct several dry fire missions.

During these missions Australian mentors addressed areas for improvement.

Over the next few months the Gunners will test fire the D-30 122mm Howitzers at Multinational Base - Tarin-Kowt.
