Resupply to Patrol Base Atiq

Troops from the First Mentoring Task Force (MTF-1) conducted a re-supply and sustainment activity to Patrol Base Atiq on the 23rd March 2010.

During the road trip to the PB, the kilometers-long convoy crept through some of the most troubled areas of Mirabad Valley unscathed.

The sustainment run delivered a support team from the MTF workshop, medical facility, environmental health and Chaplaincy.

On arrival to PB Atiq, the mechanics serviced the base generators while Physiotherapist, Lieutenant Emma Cameron helped some of the soldiers with muscular aches and pains. Chaplain, Captain Al Lavaki provided support to the troops and Environmental Health Officer Corporal Nellie Awad inspected the ablutions to ensure appropriate levels of sanitation and assessed pest control measures currently in place.

While the team was at PB Atiq an aero-medical evacuation (AME) of an Australian soldier injured by an improvised explosive device was underway further down the Mirabad Valley. The AME brought home to the patrol base visitors a sense of what the Australian troops faced in the field.
