Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Induction Training – MIT

Participants take part in Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Induction Training – MIT on their arrival into the United Arab Emirates at the new MIT facility. The training, coordinated by a two-man MIT team, is compulsory for almost all Australian Defence Force members and civilians that deploy into the Middle East Area of Operations. The two to four day course is designed to prepare personnel for a deployment into the area and provide them with up to date situational awareness briefs and practical training in weapons, countering Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and advanced medical care. Personnel are also given time to acclimatise and complete any final administration prior to moving onto their final location and job.

Previously known as RSO&I, the more aptly named Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Induction Training, or MIT, is the gateway induction course for the majority of Defence personnel and civilians deployed to the MEAO run by the Force Support Unit.
