Training School graduates more Tradesmen

The Trade Training School, first established in 2006 by the First Reconstruction Task Force (RTF1), has graduated another round of young Afghan men and is soon to achieve another milestone with a second TTS unit moving to the Chorah region.

The move set for early March 2010 will provide young Afghan men the opportunity to learn trade skills in carpentry, concreting, plumbing, and general maintenance work.

Over the past four years the TTS has graduated around 200 young men in the Tarin Kot area. One of those graduates, Najib Bulah, now holds qualifications similar to that of a 4th year apprentice in carpentry with trainer qualifications in plumbing.

Najib has been with the TTS since 2006 and is now teaching other young Afghan men at the TTS. The TTS now has nine Afghan instructors at Najib’s level.

Many of the TTS graduates now have jobs with international construction contractors in Tarin Kot and elsewhere with a number being employed locally.

One of the TTS goals is to set the school up in Tarin Kot under the Afghan Government.
