HMAS Stuart Maintains Pressure On The High Seas

HMAS Stuart is continuing to play a valuable and active role in support of maritime security operations in the Central and Southern Arabian Gulf. The Boarding Party of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) frigate recently boarded 23 vessels over four days, while conducting operations as part of Combined Task Force (CTF) 152.

CTF 152 operations help to provide security for trade routes in the Middle East maritime environment, which in turn promotes stability and global prosperity. Our frigate also contributes to two other CTFs commanded by the US-led Combined Maritime Forces Headquarters. These are CTF 150 – counter terrorism and CTF 151 – counter piracy.

As part of CTF 152, the Australian frigate engages with Gulf Cooperation Council nations to enhance the ability of regional maritime forces to counter illegal activities, respond to maritime crises and enhance security in the Arabian Gulf. These operations also complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations by disrupting criminals seeking to use the maritime environment to stage attacks, or to traffic people, weapons and illicit cargo.
