Members of SCANEAGLE UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Group 6 conduct UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) operations in support of multiple elements within the Area of Operations. The UAS provides aerial Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) to a supported formation.

Members of the group are employed in numerous roles. They can specialise as an Operator (AVO), Mission Commander (MC), Ground Maintainer or Analyst. An AVO is responsible for the safe conduct of the mission, monitors the aircraft systems and operates the payload.

The Mission Commander plans the mission and ensures the supported force element receives the information and support as required. Additionally, they ensure airspace and safety procedures are adhered to, including checking for incoming weather.

The ground handling and maintenance for the group is primarily conducted by contractors. Whilst all AVO and MCs are trained in basic ground handling and maintenance, the contractors form an integral part of the team.
