LACW Cassandra Fien from RAAF Base Amberley has continued clocking up the medals since her record-breaking efforts at the Arafura Games in Darwin in May.
The 382ECSS dog handler was the women’s open winner and seventh overall in the Ipswich Park to Park Half Marathon in a course record 1hr 18min and 41sec on an extremely hilly 5km loop course. In the process, she beat Commonwealth Games representative Rina Hill by 40sec.
In the Brisbane Bridge to Brisbane (City) Fun Run, she finished second in the women’s category in a speedy 41min and 15sec over the flat 12km point-to-point event, this time beating Hill by 20sec.
On August 20, she won the women’s open category at the Noosa Half Marathon in 1hr 17min and 51sec in finishing ninth overall.
That set an ADF record and again she left Hill in her wake by 26sec.
“These were all outstanding runs against elite competitors and shows what a talented and dedicated athlete Cassandra is,” PTI and fellow athlete CPL Gary Ewart said. |
