A collaborative effort between the Air Power Development Centre (APDC) and Air Force Training Group (AFTG) has resulted in the inaugural Air Power Trainers Course (APTC) being conducted.

Run at the ADPC’s Canberra facility in May, the course aimed to graduate AFTG instructors with the knowledge and confidence to deliver air power training from the ab-initio level at our recruit and officer training institutions up to promotion courses at WOFF and SQNLDR level.

The APTC participants were given an incisive and challenging perspective of air power theory and application.

The course included topics covering the early development of air power, contemporary air power theory, the contribution of space-based capability and the future operating concept.

Theory was brought to life by real world examples.

The APTC is part of a growing emphasis on air power education within Air Force as we strive to develop the professional mastery of air power that complements our technical mastery of platforms and systems.

Officers and airmen on ab-initio and promotion courses can now look forward to more interesting and relevant air power training delivered by knowledgeable instructors.

Understanding air power is the core of our profession.

Developing a cadre of air power instructors with knowledge and a passion for their subject is part of the Air Force commitment to ensuring we have the means to achieve the highest possible standards in our core business.
