Serving ADF cadet officers and instructors will be soon be rewarded for their contribution to developing young Australians with the new Cadet Certificate of Service award.

Parliamentary Secretary Peter Lindsay announced the award, to be introduced later this year.

The certificates will be awarded to officers and instructors engaged under the Cadet Forces Regulations for five and 10 years service.

“Cadet staff are currently recognised for their long-term contribution through the Australian Cadet Forces Service Medal for 15 years’ service and the clasps to the medal for each additional five years’ service,” Mr Lindsay said.

“Cadet staff are also eligible for civil honours, such as the Order of Australia and Australian Defence Force Commendations for exceptional service. This new certificate rewards cadet staff who have made a significant contribution over the shorter term, by recognising their continuing commitment and hard work in support of Australian youth.”
