| New ADF insurance plan is launched Edition 4909, 31 May, 2007 |
|
The Services Security Plan (SSP) has been reviewed and improved in response to feedback from ADF members. The American Home Assurance Group, part of AIG, has provided injury and accident insurance for the ADF since 1996. Speaking at the launch of the new plan, Chief of Army LTGEN Peter Leahy spoke about the importance of products, such as the SSP, that had been tailored to meet the unique requirements of the ADF, their families and other members of the Defence community. He said this type of product was not available as an off-the-shelf product from any insurance provider in Australia. The SSP has three levels of cover – budget, premier and superior. A maximum of three units of cover may be purchased, having the effect of multiplying the amount of insurance cover detailed in the AIG schedule of events. An optional accidental death benefit can be purchased in addition to the standard package at extra cost. The SSP is available to existing clients who can elect to upgrade their policy or keep existing cover, and to new clients.
