THE Air Force has taken another historic step by conducting its first Sustainability Improvement Conference.

Hosted by ACAUST AVM John Quaife at RAAF Base Glenbrook, more than 60 of the Air Force’s senior officers and airmen/airwomen took part in the two-day conference.

With the theme of “Sharing the Knowledge”, the conference allowed FEG commanders and selected staff to focus on the core issue of aircraft online availability and how lessons from more than one FEG can be used across the Air Force.

“The discussion certainly wasn’t confined to flying squadrons,” AVM Quaife said.

“The lessons we took away were applicable across the board and will help us across all areas – things like understanding where the stresses are within our workforces.

“The challenge is certainly ahead of us next year, with Air Command focusing on our ability to raise, train and sustain so we can send people off into the joint forces world.”

“In short, out of all the grand words, we have to determine what we are actually doing tomorrow and how we are going to do it.”
