6SQN thanks their family and friends
Volume 48, No. 21, November 16, 2006
MEMBERS of 6SQN recently said a special thank you to those closest to them.
More than 800 family and friends of the squadron at RAAF Base Amberley were invited to attend the squadron’s open day in a show of appreciation for their ongoing support for what has been another busy year.
“It is a great opportunity for everybody to show off their workplace and let all those that support them have a look at what 6SQN is all about,” CO WGCDR Ken Quinn said.
“Support of our families and friends is vital to the capability that 6SQN’s people provide to the nation.”
The Amberley Brass Band provided entertainment and guests viewed the many static displays, including a Caribou from 38SQN and a Hawk from 76SQN.
SQNLDR Michael Sullivan and FLTLT Susan Youngman kept the crowd in awe during an exciting F-111 handling display, which featured the popular ‘dump and burn’.
After a barbecue, WGCDR Quinn presented Defence Service and Long Service medals to squadron members, with family and friends proudly looking on.
