Triple treat for C-17 techos

Volume 48, No. 20, November 2, 2006

HOOKED: From left, AIRCDRE Graham Bentley with new CPLs Jay Gibbons, Adam Bentley and Tom Lane and detachment commander WOFF Pete Trimble.

PROMOTION is a significant event in the career path of any airman or airwoman, particularly when it is to CPL.

It is a more significant event when the promotion occurs for a member who is thousands of miles from home in another country.

That was the case when three members of 36SQN were promoted recently.

LACs Jay Gibbons, Adam Bentley and Tom Lane were promoted and achieved a squadron ‘first’. The three newest CPLs are currently attending a 14-week technical training course on the new C-17 Globemaster at the 373 Training Squadron Detachment at McCord Air Force Base in Seattle, USA.

They are all undergoing C-17 avionics technical training in order to become part of the first Air Force C-17 squadron.

AIRCDRE Graeme Bentley, Australia’s Air Attache to Washington, handed the three airmen their new stripes at a short ceremony hosted by WOFF Pete Trimble, the detachment commander. The event had a special significance for AIRCDRE Bentley, as Adam Bentley is his son.
