QUESTION TIME: Chelsea Menzies at the controls with SGT Chris Moore, from RAAFSTT, who organised the visit. |
YEAR 2 students from Lake Albert Public School were wide-eyed and incredibly excited during a recent visit to RAAF Base Wagga.
About 90 children from the local primary school got a close-up look at some of Air Force’s assets as part of their studies in transport. They climbed over and sat in trucks, manned a fire hose and toured an aircraft during an action-packed two hours.
Organised by RAAF School of Technical Training instructor SGT Chris Moore, the September 19 visit proved popular with the young students.
According to RAAFSTT instructors SGT Terry Stevens and SGT Chris Gregory, who helped SGT Moore host the children, everyone had a ball.
“It only took the children a few minutes to get over their shyness, and from then they were so excited. They were chatting the whole time and had so many questions,” he said.
“They particularly loved the firefighting and being shown on board one of the Metroliner (civilian) aircraft on the base.”
