RAAF Base Williams' legacy to remember

Volume 48, No. 19, October 19, 2006

VOLUNTEERS from RAAF Base Williams have gone well beyond the call of duty to raise money for Legacy. Since 2003, members’ efforts have resulted in a total contribution of $14,000.

Money raised during this year’s campaign was handed over to the President of Melbourne Legacy, Legatee Bill Rogers, by Acting Base Commander SQNLDR Kent Page at the Sergeants’ Mess last month.

In appreciation, Legatee Rogers presented a plaque to the base recognising its efforts in 2006 and seeking similar support next year.

“The outstanding support in 2006 by the staff at RAAF Williams and the local community, by purchasing a badge or by making a donation, was greatly appreciated by Melbourne Legacy,” Legatee John Barber, Chairman of the Western Branch of Melbourne Legacy, said.

“The funds will be faithfully applied to the needs of widows and children of deceased veterans.”
