Glenbrook cadets crowned the best in NSW

Volume 48, No. 16, Sepetember 7, 2006

AWARD WINNERS: Cadets and staff of 323SQN join members of the RAAF Association after being named NSW’s Most Efficient Squadron at RAAF Base Glenbrook.

RAAF Base Glenbrook’s 323 Air Force Cadet Squadron has been announced NSW’s Most Efficient Squadron ahead of the state’s 38 other cadet squadrons.

323SQN was given the accolade at the close of a NSW AAFC competition held at Glenbrook in early August.

The award is donated annually by the RAAF Association (AAFC sub-division) and is based on the number and variety of activities the winning squadron conducts each year.

Air Force cadets participate in a wide range of activities at Glenbrook including parades, Anzac Day and Vietnam Veterans’ marches, leadership training, Duke of Edinburgh activities, medical evacuation exercises, first aid courses, power flying, gliding, air field visits, camping, air shows, dining-in nights and military balls.

323SQN cadets, aged between 13 and 20, pack a great deal of experiences into any one year, which would not be possible without the support and assistance from the management team at Glenbrook through WGCDR Brett Bishell.

Commanding Officer Doug DeCean said the award also demonstrated the team effort and enthusiasm shown by the 71 cadets, their staff and the parent committee of 323SQN.
