Desert Lights

THIS is a CD which has received mix reviews from critics – described as either a work of genius or generically bland. For me, it’s a bit of both. I like some of the songs on here, but Paul Dempsey’s distinctive voice and the band’s melancholy approach to life can be a little grating after 20 minutes.

Something for Kate fans will either love it or hate it – but either way it’s much better than their last two offerings.

Why Try Harder

HARD to believe Fatboy Slim’s been around 10 years, but here it is – a decade of butt-shakin’ tracks. All your faves are here: Rockafeller Skank, Praise You, Groove Armada’s I see you baby, and Weapon of Choice which featured the fab clip with Christopher Walken dancing through a hotel. There are two new songs on the CD as well which aren’t bad, but for me it’s the oldies that will get you going. Pretty good for an artist who doesn’t actually sing or write lyrics!
