FLYING
clothing concerns are being addressed by like-minded operators
thats the message from ACAUST AVM John Quaife and
the Flying Clothing Steering Committee (FCSC).
The FCSC meets twice a year and is responsible for reviewing the
function, suitability and design of flying clothing and related
accoutrements, and for introducing new items when necessary.
The FCSC investigates and make recommendations on any defect report
raised in relation to flying clothing.
All FCSC proposals for new flying clothing, changes to design,
or amendments to flying clothing entitlements are forwarded to
DCOORD-AF for final approval.
AVM Quaife, in his support for the committee, said, The
committee is an important facet in the way we do business.
Our people need to know that their concerns over flying
clothing are being addressed by like-minded operators, in collaboration
with other war fighting components, and with the support of the
Defence Materiel Organisation. Air Command raises not only logistic
issues with the committee, but also issues that affect personal
safety.
With this approach, our deployed forces in the MEAO are
now using the most suitable and practical flying clothing for
the successful completion of their missions.
With the Chairmans agreement, other Air Force, ADF and Defence
personnel, as well as contractors representatives, may attend
meetings to provide specialist input and advice.
All aircrew should raise clothing-related issues through the chain
of command, the aviation safety occurrence report or operational
hazard systems, and ensure the FCSC gains visibility.
