In the grip of footy fever

IT’S been football fever round the world and the Middle East has been no exception.
To coincide with the soccer World Cup, Task Group 633.2 members held their own world cup knockout tournament, teams selected on form, ability and availability.
Each team comprised four players and several subs and the competition proved tight. Teams devoted every spare minute to training and developing skills not previously seen in the MEAO. Unfortunately, most of the skills hadn’t been seen before on any soccer pitch either.
In the final, the Communication Section, led by LAC Casey Davies, and the members from the Mechanical Engineering Operational Maintenance Section (MEOMS), led by FSGT Danny Carulli, took to the field for the title.
The game was goal for goal and locked up at two all. With minutes remaining, both sides had numerous shots at goal but, with seconds remaining, MEOMS passed, dodged, ducked and weaved to score a goal and take the premiership cup.
