Rwanda service recognised

Volume 48, No. 11, June 29, 2006

MORE than 630 ADF personnel who served in Rwanda are eligible to have their ASM replaced with the AASM with Rwanda clasp.

Eligible members must return their ASM, as the Governor-General must cancel it before approving the AASM.
The Directorate of Honours and Awards said the AASM would not be issued unless the ASM was handed in, although this would not apply to members who hold other clasps to the ASM.

In February, the government reclassified service on Operation Tamar in Rwanda as warlike.

To apply for the AASM, complete the application form AC694, available at http://www.defence.gov.au/dpe/dpe_site/honours_awards
