ALG responds to
Islands crisis
THE
operational tempo of the Air Lift Group reached a new high
last month when aircraft from 84 and 86WGs were called on
to lift a company of soldiers to Honiara to support the Regional
Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

Behind the desk
It is hard to believe that another month has passed since
I last wrote to you. An old saying time flies when
one is having fun, is appropriate.

Giving
help to Honiara
FOR now there is calm in the Solomon Islands after approximately
500 Australian and New Zealand soldiers deployed there following
riots in the countrys capital, Honiara.
Air
Force pauses around the world
THE
haunting sounds of a lone Air Force piper rang out across
Gallipoli this Anzac Day 91 years after young Australian
and New Zealand troops made their fateful landing at Anzac
Cove.

In
their footsteps
IM the first Willoughby to touch this soil [at
Gallipoli] for 91 years. You can imagine how I feel about
that.
Richmond
rises to meet challenges
AIR Lift Group personnel from RAAF
Base Richmond are busy preparing to meet the challenge of
getting the new Globemaster III aircraft operational, but
paused momentarily for a double celebration on April 8.

Women
wanted for health study
THE health and wellbeing of women who
have served as peacekeepers is the focus of a new study and
volunteers are needed.

Newest
pilots set to take off
FIVE Air Force students will leave
Tamworth behind this month after graduating from Basic Flight
Training School (BFTS).

Tindal
goes commando
Wet weather didnt dampen the
enthusiasm of families and children who attended a BBQ and
pool party at RAAF Base Tindal.

Spinning
the perfect warrie
AIR Force warbirds gave 20,000 people
a thrill last month when they took to the skies above Victorias
RAAF Museum Point Cook.

75
years of flight celebrated
AIR FORCE has helped Lord Howe Island
celebrate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the first
aircraft to its shores, with a Hercules flight piloted by
Air Commander AVM John Quaife.

A
hidden gift
A LIFE jacket, known as a Mae West,
that was worn on a bombing raid against the German battleship
Tirpitz in 1942 by the Australian founder and leader of the
famous WWII Path Finder Force (PFF), AVM Don Bennett, presented
to the Australian War Memorial (AWM) last month.

Frequent
flyer
WGCDR Steve Roberton may not have collected
thousands of frequent flyer points, or travelled business
class all the way, but he has recently achieved a milestone
the envy of many aircrew.

Bomber
banner sews its place in history
A FORMATION of aircraft carrying a
special cargo made the journey from Camden in NSW to Canberra
last month the Australian War Memorial (AWM) in their
sights.

Future
decisions get guidance
DEVELOPMENTS over the next 12 months
within the Air Power Development Centre (APDC) will help deliver
guidance to Air Forces decision-makers.
