Air Command Band

April 23: CPL Brenton Burley will perform the Last Post at the Anzac Day AFL game at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

April 25:
The Parade Band will be extensively involved in this year’s Anzac Day commemorations. The Band will provide musical support for the Dawn Service to be held at the Cenotaph in Martin Place. The Band will then lead the march and return to lead the Air Force contingent.

April 29:
A jazz combo will provide the musical support for RAAF Base Glenbrook’s Autumn Ball.

April 30:
22SQN will hold a church service and luncheon to commemorate its 70th Anniversary. Organist LAC Brendon Lukin will perform at the church and the clarinet quartet will perform at the luncheon.

Central Band

April 19-30: Fifteen members of Central Band are part of the 2006 Gallipoli Contingent, performing prior to, and at, the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove on Anzac Day. They will also perform at the Lone Pine Ceremony and represent Australia at the New Zealand Memorial.

April 19-20:
Force 10 will perform at the Age VCE (Victorian Certificiate of Education) Careers Expo at the Caulfield Races between 11am and 1pm.

April 22:
The Ceremonial Band will support the 1RTU graduation parade at RAAF Base Edinburgh at 1pm.

April 25:
The Ceremonial Band will support the Anzac Day Dawn Service at RAAF Base Point Cook. They will then greet the Governor at the Melbourne Shrine of Rememberance at 9am before marching in the parade with the RAAF contingent, stepping off at 11am. Force 10 will perform at the MCG pre-game performance and a Central Band trumpet player will play the Last Post before the AFL game.

April 25:
CPL Steve Temple will be the bugler at the Anzac Day commemorative service in the Middle East.

April 25:
The jazz ensemble will provide musical support for the 21SQN 70th Anniversary dinner at the Airmen’s Mess RAAF Base Laverton.

May 4:
The Catalina wind quintet will provide musical support for the School of Air Navigation 60th Anniversary mixed dining-in at RAAF Base East Sale.

May 5-7:
The Concert Band and Ceremonial Band will appear at the Bright Autumn Festival at various outdoor performances and a street march.

Air Force Annual

Submissions are being called for the 2006 Air Force Annual. The focus for this year’s book is ‘recent operational experience’, ie the conduct of, and support to, operations.

Submissions are invited covering not just the stories from those deployed but also on those areas ‘behind the scenes’ and in Training Command.

Stories should be 500-700 words and photos should have 300dpi resolution.
