Air Command Band

April 7: Members of the Air Command Band will be performing solo and chamber repertoire at St Peter’s Church, Blues Point Rd, North Sydney, from 1.15 to 1.45pm.
April 9: The Parade Band will be involved with the No. 450SQN 65th Anniversary celebrations to be held at Hunter St Newcastle at 12.30pm.
April 11: The Air Command Band will be involved in the opening of the Royal Easter Show, 2pm, at the Sydney Showground.

Central Band

April 9: Force 10 will be providing entertainment at the RAAF Museum Air Pageant, Point Cook, from 11am - 1pm.
April 11: A group of musicians will perform at an invitation-only Air Force cocktail party at the RAAF Base Williams Officers’ Mess.
April 12: The Ceremonial Band will support the 1RTU graduation parade at RAAF Base Edinburgh at 1pm.

WWII Parade

A parade and celebrations on April 9 and 10 will mark the 65th Anniversary of the departure from Williamtown of No. 450 SQN (the Desert Harassers) on the way to the Middle East.

The parade will step-off from Pacific Park, Newcastle, at 12 noon on April 9 and will march down Hunter Street to Civic Station. At 12.15pm at Wheeler Place (Opp. Civic Station), 30 surviving members of No. 450 SQN will receive their final orders and embark on a police-escorted cavalcade.

Gallipoli memorabilia

The RAN Central Canteen Fund has a ‘Sands of Gallipoli’ collection of lapel pins, key rings, plaques, teaspoons and limited edition medallions, which contain authentic sand from ANZAC Cove.

There are six limited edition medallions in the collection - Infantry, Mounted, Medical, Artillery, Navy and one featuring Engineers, Supply and Signals.

The medallions are housed in rotating timber display stands, a vial of Gallipoli sand, numbered certificate of authenticity and a header medallion.

Air Force Annual

Submissions are being called for the 2006 Air Force Annual.

The focus for this year’s book is ‘recent operational experience’, ie the conduct of, and support to, operations. Submissions are invited covering not just the stories from those deployed but also on those areas ‘behind the scenes’ and Training Command.

Stories should be 500-700 words and photos should have 300dpi resolution.
