On par for management course

Volume 48, No. 3, March 9, 2006

IT WAS a course with a difference which seven Air Force personnel undertook recently when they headed to the Southern Cross University in Lismore.

The course, known as the Public Sector Executive Management Program, was developed for Air Force through consultation with Management Services Agency (MSA) to provide the necessary skills to take on the role of Air Force management consulting within MSA.

MSA, part of Air Force Headquarters, is an internal consultancy agency providing business improvement services to Air Force commanders, including organisational analysis, facilitated workshops and strategy planning.

On completion of the 15-week intensive course, students attain a Graduate Certificate of Management (six units towards a Masters of Business Administration degree) and are ready to assist commanders to improve their business practices.

Subjects include Processes of Management, Research Methods, Organisational Behaviour, Strategic Management and Consulting Skills.
