Defence members posted to major bases around Australia will benefit
from the construction of 1300 new rooms, built as part of a national
rolling program to improve Defence accommodation standards.
Project Single LEAP (Living Environment and Accommodation Precinct)
has taken a step forward with four organisations Synersec,
Lend Lease-DHA, Pinnacle Housing and Plenary Living shortlisted
as potential strategic partners with Defence.
Nine organisations responded to Defences Expression of Interest
(EOI) to enter into a strategic partnership to provide accommodation
for single ADF members at key bases such as RAAF Base Amberley.
The new rooms will be built as part of Phase 1 of the project,
with an EOI for Phase 2 of Single LEAP expected to be released
in mid 2006 for accommodation services at other Defence sites
around Australia.
The project is part of a series of sweeping changes to singles
accommodation around Australia.
Late last year Defence Housing Authority announced a Singles Choice
18-month trial period. The trial provides a variety of off-base
accommodation with a selection of modern apartments and townhouses
close to the city centre.
