Chinese Super 10s

CHINA is working on an advanced J-10 multi-role fighter, known as a Super-10, with thrust-vector control, a stronger airframe, more powerful engine and passive phased-array radar.
The Super-10 will feature a new AL-31 FN M1 engine with an enlarged fan and inlet. It also has a swivel nozzle allowing the capability to remain fully controllable at very low speeds.

Singapore to get 12 fighters

SINGAPORE’s next generation multi-role fighter jet will be 12 Boeing F15-SG fighters for delivery to the island nation in 2008/2009. Singapore has ordered 12 with an option for a further eight. The fighters will replace the RSAFs A-4SU Super Skyhawk attack aircraft.

US Raptors ready to fly

THE US Air Force’s newest fighter aircraft, the F-22 Raptors, are ready for combat. Twelve Raptors, renamed F-22A’s, of the 27th Fighter Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, are fully equipped for combat, including the ability to carry satellite-guided bombs.

Super Tucanos for Colombia

Colombia has signed for 25 Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, the first to be delivered by the end of this year. Equipped with a laser designation system, two .50in machine guns, four hard points for weapons or fuel and a data link – the aircraft will be used by the Colombian Air Force to counter Colombian guerrillas and drug smugglers.

Chilean F-16s

The first of 18 ex-Dutch Air Force F-16AM/BM fighter aircraft will delivered to Chile later this year. Delivery of the aircraft will be complete by May/June 2007. The aircraft will be stripped of several sensitive items, including the ability to deliver B61 nuclear weapons and to employ AGM-88 High-speed Anti-Radar Missiles.
