Ceremony for medals of honour

SIX Air Force members are among the first to wear the new ADF Iraq and Afghanistan medals following a ceremony with the Chief of Air Force late last month.

Air Commodore David Richards was awarded the Afghanistan medal for his work in Kyrgyzstan, while Wing Commander Gary Martin, Squadron Leader Warren McDonald, Corporal Jay Henry, Corporal David Hueston and Leading Aircraftman Philip Rhoades were presented the Iraq medal for service in the Middle East Area of Operations.

The recipients are among the first of 108 Iraq and 144 Afghanistan medal awardees between the three Services.

Of those, 20 Air Force members will receive the Afghanistan medal and 33 will receive the Iraq medal.
