The game is on for recruiting

By Private Andrew Hetherington

THE ADF’s Hornets, Seahawks and Tigers have been placed in the hands of aspiring aviators with the release of a new Defence on-line recruiting game.

Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence De-Anne Kelly launched the game ADF Aviator and said that it would build further on the way Defence Force Recruiting uses on-line technology to attract people to the ADF.

“This innovative recruiting tool was commissioned as part of an integrated marketing strategy aimed at attracting people to the Defence Jobs website,” she said.

The game allows potential recruits to take the pilot’s seat in an F/A-18 and in the Tiger and Seahawk Helicopters.

“Players have to participate in a mission briefing, undertake pre-flight checks, achieve the mission objective and return home safely,” Mrs Kelly said.

“It might sound like a lot of fun, but these games play a more important role, as they help develop the fine motor skills required to become a pilot in the Navy, Army or Air Force.”

The game can be played by visiting: www.defencejobs.gov.au.
