Medical miracles

PROVIDING medical assistance anywhere and anytime is one of the important tasks undertaken by No. 3 Combat Support Hospital, which proudly promotes its motto “care where needed”.

Flight Lieutenant Audrey Tan is one of the unit’s medical officers who came to better appreciate the meaning of the motto when she was recalled from leave to deploy on Operation Sumatra Assist.

“I have only been in the Air Force for 18 months, but one of the challenges I have come to enjoy is that I could be sent anywhere at anytime to support ADF operations,” she says.

“The whole experience [in Aceh] gave me a great sense of pride because we were helping the people of a neighbouring country deal with a natural disaster.

“All the medical officers at No. 3 Combat Support Hospital are on call for fixed wing and rotary wing aero medical evacuations.”
