Force Headquarters has directed all members to ensure their
official contact and leave contact details are always up to
date.
Several events, such as the Boxing Day tsunamis and the more
recent terrorist bombings in London, required commanders to
contact members on leave to check on their wellbeing.
The tsunami occurred when the majority of the ADF were on leave.
Complete checks of all military and civilian Defence members
on duty and on leave in the United Kingdom were necessary because
of the large number of unknown people affected by the London
bombings.
The majority of people did provide comprehensive details on
their leave applications, including itinerary and contact details.
However, some members failed to provide the required details.
This resulted in an unnecessary amount of time being wasted
in trying to find them.
All members are reminded they must provide contact details on
their leave applications. AFHQ acknowledges that members may
not have their mobile telephones with them on leave.
However, a proper itinerary and alternative contact details
at their location will reduce the amount of time wasted in chasing
this information.
This will ensure that their wellbeing is confirmed as quickly
as possible.
As part of this process, AFHQ advises that all members must
have their contact details accurately recorded on the Defence
directory. This includes information such as a change of posting
or work site, promotion, etc.
Each time it is updated, the National Defence Telephone Directory
(NDTD) page, feeds this information to the DRN address book
and keeps members information current.
All members are to check their personal details for accuracy,
including their alternate contact details and fax numbers, and
update information as required via the NDTD page.

information and update instructions are at website http://ndtd.defence.gov.au/
