AIR Force personnel at Canungra recently took part in the Kokoda Barracks annual cross county-come mountain goat track scramble.

Military and civilian members participated in the seven-kilometre run that covered some of the most picturesque scenery that the Canungra area could offer, taking in hills, bushes and crystal-clear streams.

As there is no such thing as flat ground in Canungra, the runners negotiated steep tracks up and down the mountainous surrounds to complete the race.

The first female to cross the line this year was Corporal Natalie Tufte-Johnsen, with a time of 37.46, and the first male was Warrant Officer Class Two Mark Anderson with a time of 30.37. The overall wining unit was Headquarters Regional Training Centre.
