Nominate the next Aussie of the Year
ADF
personnel have been challenged to nominate a fellow member and
any other person they believe is contributing to the Australian
community for the annual Australian of the Year Awards.
Nominations are sought in four categories: Australian of the Year;
Senior Australian of the Year (60 years and over); Young Australian
of the Year (16 to 25 years); and Local Hero.
According to former Olympian Lisa Curry-Kenney, chair of the National
Australia Day Council, the awards provide an opportunity to recognise
and celebrate everyday Australians who make an outstanding contribution
to the community.
These awards recognise outstanding contributions to Australia.
Something our Service men and women make everyday. Wed love
to hear the stories of the men and women who so ably protect our
nation, she said.
In 2005, Air Vice-Marshal Julie Hammer was named ACT Australian
of the Year and was a national finalist for the Australian of
the Year Award.
I encourage Service people to nominate someone who is contributing
to the Australian community. Its a wonderful way to say
thank you to them for the difference theyve
made, she said.
Nominations
are open until August 29. Nomination forms are available at any
branch of the Commonwealth Bank, by calling 1300 655 193, or online
at www.australianoftheyear.com.au.
